There are lots of 4th of July events happening in and around Austin and it’s going to be HOT. There are currently openings to cool off in the Loungy Turtle pool over the holiday weekend, so book your time now.
The two big events happening in Austin on the 4th of July are the Austin Symphony H-E-B July 4th Concert & Fireworks and Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic.
Austin’s largest Independence Day celebration on July 4th is at Auditorium Shores and the Long Center. The Austin Symphony H-E-B July 4th Concert & Fireworks includes patriotic music from the Austin Symphony and then a fireworks display over Town Lake. Get to the Long Center or South First Street Bridge early and leave chairs behind. Just a blanket is perfect and there are lots of vendors for food and drinks.
The first concert at Q2 Stadium (where Austin FC plays) will be Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic. Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic will feature Willie Nelson & Family, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Tyler Childers, Allison Russell, Brothers Osborne, Midland, Charley Crockett, Particle Kid, Steve Earle, and Asleep at the Wheel. The show begins at noon and runs ten hours plus fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July.
I’d recommend rideshare to get to either event – you don’t want to try and drive. But before either of those, you’ll be happy if you have a pool to cool down in.
Reserve some pool time now before it’s all booked up.
Whatever you do on July 4th in Austin, leave the fireworks to the professionals. Fireworks are illegal within Austin city limits and with how dry it’s been, they are a major fire risk.
